How to prepare Aloe Vera Juice at Home:
- If you have an Aloe Vera plant at home, cut one of the leaves which lie closer to the ground, as they are more matured and so have more ingredients in them.
(Going by the rule of thumb, while choosing which leaf to cut, pick the one whose tip has just began to dry, as it contains maximum juice.)
- After washing the leaf with plenty of water, cut the piece that you want to use.
(For making 1 liter of juice, cut a piece of 10-15 cm.)
- Next, take a sharp knife, and remove the thorny edge of the Aloe Vera leaf and rinse the leaf once again thoroughly in cold water.
- Once done, separate the gel by removing the outer peel from both sides of the leaf by placing the back side of the knife on the inner side of the leaf (1-2 cm. from the outer skin) and pull in the opposite direction. Alternatively, you can even remove the gel from the leaf, using a spoon.
If the gel is carefully removed from the leaf, the central gel will be aloin-free.
- Now place the Aloe Vera gel in a blender and make it a smoothie.
- To make a glass of Aloe Vera Juice, mix 2-3 Tablespoon of Aloe Vera gel in a glass of water and stir thoroughly.
- Transfer the remaining Aloe Vera gel into a wide mouthed glass bottle and place it inside the refrigerator for future use.
It is advisable to use this Aloe Vera gel in a short period of time (within 7 days) in order not to lose its beneficial properties.
When to drink Aloe Vera juice?
To enjoy the maximum benefit from this ambrosial drink, it’s best to drink it right in the morning on an empty stomach, so that your body can absorb more of its beneficial nutrients with the next few hours of the day.
If you prefer to drink Aloe Vera juice in the evening, try to drink the juice at least 3-4 hours before your bedtime.
Never give children Aloe Vera juice in the evening because the energy supply of this juice will deter them from falling asleep.
